Robert Ivy, an architect, member and CEO of the American Institute of Architects encourages his members to not only to focus on architecture but also focus in public health. He does this because he believes that architectural practices go hand in hand with public health and ignoring it could lead to unwanted adverse effects.

As a result of increase in membership to the institute, membership has been tiered to different categories. These categories are divided into five and include the licensed architects, non-licensed but practicing architects, practicing non-US architects, professionals who are not architectures but their fields are allied to architecture and those that have been in the institute as members for 15 years consecutively.

Members of the body are always encouraged to adhere to its standards while delivering services. This is because the body has a significant influence on the US government and the legislative bodies. Thus, a need to save the image and this mutual trust is important.

While making important public redesign decisions, the institute is always consulted by the government. The body considers this as their way of giving back to the society and is always available to serve when needed.

The American Institute of Architects has a way of rewarding its members. Those that have contributed significantly are given the rewards that they deserve. The top most ranked award being the Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA).

Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund Support DACA

Extremist group members of GOP have attacked the DACA program on a couple of fronts. This move on their part effects young immigrant organizations.

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is an administrative support to young immigrants who are liable to deportation. The organization gives protection to immigrants who came to the United States as children. The program also ensures that they obtain a work permit which is renewed every two years.

The DACA program is now facing obstacles in the face of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. He released a letter to the Trump administration, pleading for annulation of the DACA program by September 5. He threatens with legal action if the demand is not carried out. The legal action will not terminate the program, but it will stop new applications from being considered and old ones from being renewed. Nine attorneys and a governor have placed their signature on this letter. The DACA program supports 800,000 immigrants, who are now in a state of uncertainty. Legal cases are already taking a toll on the program.

Since the five years that the program has been running, the DACA organization has helped bring millions of dollars to colleges and universities. Ninety-five percent of the immigrants supported by DACA work, study and pay their taxes. DACA participants invest in education, buying a home, obtaining a vehicle, and starting a new business.

The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund is actively working to inform, give guidance and provide assistance for the preservation of DACA. The ultimate goal is achieving a permanent victory through the passing of the DREAM Act legislation. The DREAM Act (Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act) is a legislative proposal for qualifying immigrant minors in the United States to a conditional residence. With with further qualification, the immigrant may acquire a permanent residence.
