He has completed numerous research products with emphasis on bone regeneration and has 25 existing or pending patents in international regions and the United States. Although he retired from academia in 2017, he had a flourishing academic career.

According to Bloomberg, along with his many successes Dr. Cameron Clokie has created a new technique of bone regeneration worth notice. This new method uses protein to stimulate adult stem cells to become bone tissue allowing bones to grow similar to the way they would in a newborn infant.

With the stimulation of the protein, also known as bone morphogenetic protein, (BMP) adult stem cells can grow in numerous human bone tissue. Dr. Clokie has had success with this new technique during jaw surgery. His first surgery involved the extraction of the protein BMP for the adult stem cell stimulation from 40 cadavers.

The method has been performed in clinical trials using Chinese rats and is now being utilized by surgeons to help patients in South Africa. Although the procedure has shown to be effective, it is a rather costly method.

Therefore, Dr. Clokie is now researching ways to improve the technique to make it more cost efficient. He has inserted the BMP protein in goat embryos in attempt to extract the protein in goat milk. This project is still in progress.

Dr. Clokie has shown a career of excellence and continues to work for the well- being of his patients through his research and practice.
